Just wondering on average after how many miles should you be thinking about adjusting the chain..? my old transalp only really needed it every few months or so but this tiger has more torque so presumably would need it doing more often..?

Depends how you use it I think. I've needed to adjust every 1500 miles "on average" but have done 5500 gentle miles in Scandinavia and it only needed adjusting when I got home. I do have a Scott oiler by the way.

ahh....damn a scotoiler i knew there was something i was supposed to get yesterday while the bike had its 500 mile service...which reminds me i was told when i bought the bike that the first service was free but when i picked the bike up they handed me a 49 quid bill  and said the labour was free but i had to pay for the oil filter..pretty poor customer service i though after spending 7k with them youed think as a token of good will they would waiver the first service bill..

I have found that it always pays to agree on any work, and get a quotation before they start. I found out the same way you did by being presented with the bill!

No complaints at all about the quality of the work at my dealer, but i make sure that i agree the quote first.

Triumph should, i agree make the first service gratis, as a gesture of goodwill. But i guess they have slashed their margins to the bone, and need to make the cash back in other ways ??

Rob,
Get that Scottoiler fitted soon.
I had mine fitted at the 500mile service and the chain has yet to need adjusting and I've just got it back from the 6000mile service!
BTW my dealer did not make a charge for the 500mile service
