Hi
anyone fed up with the 955 tiger and planning to go 1050 ???

I look forward to a test ride but the 955 does everything I ask of it, and pillions love it.

Do we anticipate a mass rush to ditch our favourite big bike???

Interested in opinions... cheers

Depends on the price. In my case, I would need panniers, centre stand, hugger and, looking at the front mudguard, a fender extender.

I will assume that these items would add a substantial amount to the retail price of the bike.

I'd like to know the service intervals, (should really be 10,000+ miles as with cars) tyre life and, insurance group (UK).

So, unless Triumph come up with some good deals the answer is no.

NO... My '02 suits me fine, and I'd have to agree about the add-ons... I've already done the Corbin seat, exhaust, center-stand, top-box, shield, mudguard... etc. etc.

Why would I want to move on to something else... My Tiger is the bike that I'll always keep, 20 years from now I'll still be riding this one...

I might add another couple of bikes to the garage, but I'll have to get a bigger garage before I can do that...

I don't think the new 1050 Tiger is targeted at all of us that like and bought the 955... But, it looks like a fun bike, just like the S3...

...if I were to make a switch, it would be for a lighter bike and a quieter one (wind noise) in the 07 Tiger.

The 02-06 955 appears to be a better two-up machine and has a distinctive style with all the curved tank lines and fairing. I like the look even after all these years.

I've warmed up to the current styling trends (like the FZ-1, KTM Adventure and Super-Moto F-117 Stealth look) but I need to see and sit and test the 07 Tiger.

If it were more nimble and quieter (wind noise), I seriously consider a switch.

I don't have the old Tiger but rode it on extensive test ride and liked it. I like the 1050 but thought they missed an opportunity to evolve the current Tiger styling. Kind of like Porsche has evolved the 911 but you still can still see the heritage of the sixites era 911s in the current edition.

I will look at the new 1050 as a potential complement to my Bonnie. But I won't ever part with the Bonnie. If or when the engine ever blows up or needs a re-build, it will get the 1000 cc kit and hot cams from British Customs.

I have only had my '06 for about four months now. The smiles per miles is still happening. We are still in the newly wed stage of our existence, and if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Besides, I thought long and hard about the '06 or the '07 before purchase. I loved the ride, and mine has plenty of power for me. I just put her in the shop for top box, center stand, and pia lights today. Will keep her! She will be getting a Kissan brake modulator soon also.

I agree I don't mind the look so much and until ridden etc I would keep an open mind but

- I am not enthusiastic about the move to an on road tourer. Why not just buy a Sprint.

- Currently I would not rush to replace my bike, I'd be happy for someone else to take the pain of a re-engineered model and any funnies that have been introduced.

- If I was to move on I would be taking a long hard look at the Tiger, KTM and reluctantly BMW. I don't think I would ever have looked at a V-Strom or a Valerdero which the new Tiger seems to have moved towards.

- The new Sprint style luggage is small. I saw a guy with Sprint luggage on a ferry over the summer - looked like he was carrying a handbag.

- If in the future I did buy another make it would be a shame because despite some wobblies I am happy with Triumph and the dealership and that would break some bonds.

If my Tiger gets squashed by a truck today and I survive, I'll be at the dealer tomorrow (or as soon as I get ambulatory) and put a deposit on a new Tiger. No hesitation. They changed everything about the old Tiger I didn't like: 19" front wheel, narrow rear wheel, two-piston floating caliper brakes, steel-tube frame. But as others have pointed out, we spent time and money making our Tigers right for us so I won't be ditching mine just for some new crumpet.

Maybe, just for the weight saving.

I have to push mine uphill out the garage every day and have to move the car to do it. Got my previous bike out without that messing because ot was easier to handle.

If the newer ones less enormous to move around I'd probably swap it, not so concerned about pillion space or styling even though I love my 02 and colour/looks were the reason I bought it.
