A couple of weeks ago I arrived back from a great trip on my Tiger around the Picos de Europa, Pyrenees, Alps, and Vosges. Since then I've been busy sorting through over a thousand photos!
You may be glad to hear I've editted the web collection down to a couple of hundred which can be viewed HERE. Try the slide-show option and let me know what you think.

For anyone out there who hasn't yet visited the Picos de Europa you must do so - it was fabulous!
The Pyrenees offer superb riding too! Overall it was another fantastic trip blessed with great weather. Having now visited the Alps twice this year I've got to say the earlier tour in June offered better scenery with the snow, but the riding was equally good on both trips. The Vosges was great too, but I'd recommend riding this area on the way down to the Alps and not on the way home as I did. The Alps kind of "top the bill" for me so anything less so soon after tends to be just plain hilly!

Finally, does this qualify as the lowest mountain pass ? It's situated on the mediterranean coast on the French/Spanish border.

Very inspiring, some excellent photos.
A couple of questions.
Did you go by yourself?
What was your experience of the ferries? There has been a couple of topics recently about ferries and they have been poor for bikes.

Fantastic photos. You're obviously a keen photographer ! We visited the Swiss Alps in 2005 and Spanish Pyrenees via France with Triumph RAT in 2006.Your photos brought back memories. We took a few photos but not enough of the scenery. My thoughts are that the Alps are unbeatable for stunning scenery but the Pyrenees were better for riding (more space, less bikes, faster roads). But that may be why I took less photos...

Nice one Chris your a bit of a late starter but you getting there!!!!,although if i'd have ridden of that ferry there's not a snow balls chance in hell of going anywhere but south.

Hi Chris,

Excellent!

Very similar to a trip i did last year, so it brought back extremely fond memories. I can appreciate the planning involved. However, i didn't get chance to take as many photos, if i had i would still be there!

Just a couple of questions...

How long were you gone for?
What camera equipment did you take?

It's good to see a bike being used 'properly' and i can't wait to get mine over there next year.

Good luck,

Chris.

PS. Follow my website link below and check out the 'European Bike Tour' link on the Main Page for some photos/ideas etc.

Brilliant photos and great trip. I enjoyed each and every one of them. I like the pregnant horse with the Tiger sequence the best.

(but thanks for editing it down to 200 or so!)

Really good stuff.

Quite a tour. Well done. Looks like you had good weather all the way. Very rare not to get pissed on at some stage on a tour of that size.
I've been to a lot of those places over the years and taken almost the same pictures. Good memories, thanks.

Yes, I did travel alone. Mainly because I was meeting up with the family in southern France for a holiday, halfway through the route.

The Plymouth Santander ferry was superb and I'll certainly be using that route again. You literally roll off the ship into great riding and sunshine! The boat itself is superb and well equipped for motorcyclists. I used P&O from Calais to Dover - pre-booked Saturday 8.00am crossing just £20 for me and the bike! again no probs.

Basically 6 days riding out to Southern France, and 7 days riding back home. I had 8 days with the family in southern France.
Nice break really

I only carry my trusty Fuji S5000 on the bike - it's bounced around in the topbox for over 30k miles now - but gives the results I want. I tend to stick to 1600x800 as I can get plenty of shots on a couple of XD cards.

BTW, I've visited your website before - nice work.
