I heard about some anti-speeding motorcycle, being built for the English (I think). Is this junk for real? Are you guys across the pond going to stand for it?

I don't know about the one you heard about, JRO, but the Nanny-state officionados have been proposing ways of speed limiting vehicles by using transponders/receivers so that, linked with a sat-map of the speed limit zones, it would be 'impossible' to go over the speed limit. Wow - what a wonderful idea, we'd all be so much safer with a computer in control.

I read recently of this idea being put into a bike but there was considerable objection against something which altered the throttle position of a bike without the rider being in control. Imagine the throttle being suddenly closed when you are cranked over giving it the berries through your favourite bend in the rain! Maybe they won't do it for this reason or maybe banning motorcycles will be a 'safer' route.

Either way, it's a serious threat.

Banning motorcycles; yeah, that's the ticket. You've already eliminated guns and presumably crime. It'll be a paradise I tell you. Then we can start selling you "foreign danger adventure vacatrions" with motorcycle riding, elk hunting and high-cholesteral meals... until it's all banned here, of course. Well, there's always Thailand.

I heard Elvis didn't die - just moved to Thailand, on account of cigarette taxes.

MCN reports this week that the idea of a satellite controlling the speed of bikes has now been scrapped. All development work has been stopped.

I had an anti-speed bike in the 70's, it was a Kwacker 350 two stroke twin, just as it got over the ton the f*cker used to sieze, did about 20 mpg, couldn't see behind for the haze, global warming.... all that bikes fault I reckon. :-D

That would have been the A7 rotary valve two stroke. I always wanted one of those. Not sure why.
