Just picked up the replacement for my '02 Tiger (atomic frog) that got ate by a deer.
I am so far impressed with the improvements over the old one. The brakes seem a bit better, it has a lighter feel to the front end and the engine...seamless power..no surging/hunting and it seems smoother than the '02.
The only question I have is when I do the first oil change, should I use the Mobil mx4t or a conventional oil for the first several thousand miles?
I have always ran conv. oil until 3-4,000 miles before switching to synthetic, the ownwers manual specifies Mobil 1.
Any thoughts or opinions?
Thanks for your responses in advance!
By the way, I was going to call the new Tiger "Rerun", however since it is Caspian blue I thought "Deja blue" was better!

Really sorry about your deer incident. I have to deal with the vermin on a constant basis, also.
Just follow your owner's manual about oil changes. You don't have to use the Triumph oil; 10/40 synth will do, just as well. I have been using the Triumph oil, but am going to switch my next oil change. It's 70miles to a dealer, and I'd rather use something I can get locally.

My Tiger now has 40000 miles on it and uses no oil at all. Serviced according to Triumphs recommendations. i.e. fully synth in at the 500 mile service and fully synth ever since. I guess their bore honing is as good as it gets unlike BMWs that seem to take 15000 miles to run in properly.
Oh, I like "Deja Blue". The return of the Tiger ptII.

SO what happened to your old Tiger, Did you get a chance to see what the insurance company wanted for it? I think I might have been in touch with you regarding picking it up for a parts bike.

Give the engine time to 'bed in' before using fully synthetic oil, at least 10 or 12,000 miles. Use semi-synthetic after first service - I think they recommend 'Silkolene' in UK, I dont suppose the brand matters, just the SAE etc.
Deer? I wont ask...
Chris.

I looked at the crashed bike and found that the frame was bent. The bodywork, gauges, and most everything else was beat, bruised, battered etc. I was thinking about buying it back from the insurance, but I figured to get on with the healing and let the old girl go. My wife likes the new bike, however she still says it not GREEN!
I put about 500 miles on it this weekend and am really liking it...now I have to save up for the Triumph slip-on muffler, I miss the burble of the "off road" exhaust.
Thanks for the tips on the oil, I went with the mx4t and will stay with it.
Did anyone make it to the slimy crud ride?
We had awesome weather!!
