Hi one and all,

My local tyre dealer is quoting me £130 for a Michelin Anakee 150 / 70 / 17 rear tyre fitted.

On the internet I came across several companies who seem to be trading under the same name, eg - Moto Tyres.co.uk.
They quote me £81.60 inc vat, delivered, but are based in Germany, and the tyre will be coming from somewhere in Europe.

Has anyone had any dealings with this type of company ??
Are they to be trusted ??
Have they got a good stock ??
etc, etc, etc ??

Look forward to your replies,
Graeme.

Friends regularly buy from the internet traders :-

BlackCircles
FWR
BFM
etc

and have no problems - even with M&P. There's also a guy on ebay trading as 'roundandblack' who's got some pretty good deals on.

I've not had to use them yet as my local guy ahs managed to fit my tyres to the bike for the same or better than just delivery from the cheapest of the internet guys.

Time will tell though, as this is the first pair I've had to replace since I bought the Tiger, if I can't get some Battelwings reasonably priced I'm going for the Conti Road Attacks at £150 a pair from the ebay guy.

"Black Circles" is a UK based company and I have used them before, they have quoted me £121 delivered.

I have no problem with using a UK company, I am specifically asking about using companies who are based outside the UK.

Many thanks for your reply, Fife Tiger.

Were you ? Oops missed that point.

In my current tyre hunt I haven't found Moto tyres to be any cheaper than the UK companies, especially when you check delivery- some are free otheres are extra.

I've been researching feedback on the Conti Road Attacks and they've been getting great reviews. Bit of a punt transferring that experience to the Tiger but at £150 a pair from RoundandBlack on ebay I think I'm going to give them a whirl.

I've decided to take the plunge and order online with moto-tyres.co.uk who are also trading as my-tyres.co.uk, as well as several other companies.

They are based in Germany.

I have sent them several emails asking if they have the tyre in stock, what will be the delivery date, etc, but they cannot answer any of the questions.

That is what I call a ***** service. The only saving grace is the tyre is only £86.10 with them and £130 (fitted) at my local dealer.

If everything is ok and the tyre comes within the quoted 7 days I will be happy and sing their praises.

If they start ****ing me about I will get on the ferry to Germany, hunt them down, and let Tiger do a burn-out on their face !!

Did you try roundandblack ?

Ordered on Sunday, phoned up to pay on Monday, tyres dropped through the letterbox on Tuesday.

Completely painless. And he answered my ebay query within a few hours.

I have done a few searches on Ebay for a Michelin Anakee with no luck at all.

I have contacted Round and Black just to see if they have them and not listed them.

edit: quick response from RoundandBlack - £95

Cheap enough.

Unfortunately on back order until November !!

Thanks for the tip-off Fife, if no luck with moto-tyres I will try them.
