I've been using the mid grade which is 89 octane here in the
DFW area. The manual says use 91, but our high grade is 93. And won't too rich of a fuel screw up the mapping and/or
the O2 sensor? I'm sure that the low grade 87 will make it
knock and run like *****.

What grades do you all usually use?

I use the 89 which is mid-grade here. I have on occasion used 87 and couldn't tell the difference. Sticking with the 89 though.

I have one Tune for Tiger ECU , which can utilize RON97
I have downloaded that tune into my ECU and got full tank of RON 100 gas.
I must say there is some slight difference.

without tune mod it does not make sence to put anything higher than 89. You would be wasting money.

I have put back standard aftermarket pipe tune, as the price of that RON100 fuel is extreme

Anything from 85 to 91. I generally aim for the mid-grade wherever I'm at but burn what I can find. :-D Can't say I had any problems with the 85 but I was at 6500 + feet and not running hard.

91 RON = 89 Octane approximately. I alway run 89 Ethanol blend, been working OK for 70,000 miles

Interesting! The manual that came with my '03 specifies 95RON. Are Australian Tiger motors a bit different?

Blcokhead,
The octane rating represents the rate of burn (amount of time it takes to burn) has nothing to do with whether your bike will run lean or rich.
The engines in the Tigers have a relatively high compression ratio to squeeze the performance out of the motor. So, that is why Triumph suggests you use a high octane fuel. If they recommend 91 Octane I would try and use it. If you have been using 89 without any detonation you could continue to use it. Myself I use the 91 Octane because it is recommended by Triumph and in the grand scheme of things the cost is not that much greater.

USA and Europe uses different octane rating.
Seems to me that Aussies use the same rating as in Europe.
if I have understood it correctly, 95 Octane fuel in Europe is rated around 91 Octane in Usa .
