Hi folks,

The headlamp fuse (fuse number 9) keeps blowing on my 2006 Tiger. Any ideas where to start looking for the problem?

I can't get it in to my dealer for at least 3 weeks! I need to try and fix it quick, before the dark nights set in, as she's my commuting machine as well as my fun machine.

Cheers,

Mark

When a new fuse is in, do all the lights work as they should. You may have a blown bulb cauing the problem.... its been known. :hammer:

Just been "playing", i.e. removing the 300 bolts holding the cockpit in place!

What was happening was that fuse would blow as soon as I put the ignition on. I could hear it pop!

So, with the cockpit off, I sprayed about a gallon of WD40 all over the miles of cables and connectors. Put a new fuse in, ignition on, no pop!

But, now I have the situation where with my normal lighting, I've got both parking lights and the left (from the riders point of view) main beam on. If I pull the Passing Light switch, I get the whole set on (so all the bulbs are working). BUT when I put the main beam switch on, both parking lights are on, and the right main is on, but the main left goes out! Now I'm REALLY confused!

Sounds like you have a bad ground connection somewhere. You can get all sorts of funny error if a consumer (lamp) does not have proper ground connection. Check from battery and forward to lamps, all places where there is connection to ground.

Good Luck!

Thanks for the tip, but WD40 is about my limit as far as electrics go!

Any idea where I'd start?

Cheers,

Mark

It sounds as though it could be a problem with the main / dip beam relays. But as

this may not be much help to you!

Mmm, might possible be able to manage that. Any idea what it looks like and where it is? (Bet it's behind those 300 bolts holding the cockpit in place again...!)

Cheers,

Mark

Err. Hold fire there fella......
Tigers are wired up so that the left works as the dip and the right as the main. Yes I know its a ***** idea but its a euro thing. To get both working at either dip or dazzle or both you need to add the appropriate relays. There are loads of threads about that, but basically they are removed for the uk but fitted for the rest of the known world.
The relays are inserted in the sockets found in the rubber boot near the left indicator. Your dealer should be able to put you right for Zero cost. (tell him its a safety concern and scream a lot.
If you need more info look up relay threads on this news group or post a reply and we will try and help) :-D :hammer:

Now I'm more confused than ever :???:

When I got the bike, my lights worked as follows (all from the riders point of view, i.e. looking from the back of the bike):

"Normal", i.e. ignition on, left and right parking light on, left main beam on.

Passing light pressed: As above, but also right main beam on

Main beam Switch on (i.e. blue light on dash): Same as for "Passing light pressed" above

Now, I get exactly as above except for Main Beam Switch On which, when pressed switches ON the right main beam, but switches OFF the left main (both parking lights always on).

Help!

Cheers,

Mark
