This is going to sound completely daft!, but has anybody invented or created a gadget or device for cleaning spoked wheels....especially Tiger wheels with those really awkward hubs!!!

I have just scrubbed and cleaned Big Stripey after our trip to Europe, and it has taken me flippin' ages to do the wheels as usual.

It occured to me that there may be a budding inventor amongst you?. I suspect that the answer will be NO, just elbow grease and plenty of time.

But you never know?????

Cheers,
Jim - Big Stripey

Know that problem already.
I am thinking of getting one of those small steamers that you see about. Cost £30 or so I think but dont put enough pressure to cause damage but the steam should be enough to clean the wheels and maybe the chain too

If you were sane Big Stripey you would have a Ford Escort!!!

What I use to use is a big briskly brush from the Kleenezzy Man it looks like a big bog brush with a long handle.

I haven’t had one for while as Daytona and Sprint ST have cast wheels.

I might invest in one if the Tiger gets really dirty.

idea
Do you remember the little plastic tubes that kids use to but on their pushbike spokes that slide up and down as the wheel revolves making a tune.
They kept the spoke nice and clean.

‘Hey Love just going to clean my wheels’ as you put your crash hat on and go for a ride

OK got one in makro yesterday. runs 1000W. It can throw steam or a small jet of hot water.

front wheel a doddle. Run steamer over rim and spokes, take clean dry rag, wipe down looks great.

back wheel as above except grease from chain doesnt move (maybe I just didnt hit it hard enough but spokes cleaned up great. again just steam and wipe with a rag - no scrubbing.

Next step is to buy some kinda all round cleaner to spray on first let it lie 5mins then see if the steam lifts it. failing that the rear will get sprayed with degreasant then as above.

front was dead easy and took no time. Back with a little extra help should do so to.

The steam doesnt just blow the muck off though, not enough power I think but I also think that might be too much power anyway to be near sealed bearings etc.

I will report back after further testing
