I've tried using the search facility but it's cr#p. So,
Has anyone got Givi panniers (side bags in the USA) fitted to a 955i Tiger. Mine's a 2002.
I need to know which mounting frames are used. Givi list a 955 00~01 model??? :brk: At :- http://www.givi.co.uk/per_la_tua_mot...=10866&lang=en
Which is a "PL725" mounting frame.
TA! :upthumb:

Hi BlackTiger
Have just looked through my bike kit receipts (scary....) but unfortunately my rack is down as "Givi sundry items" - however I'm pretty sure PL725 sounds familiar. Not sure which bike models this will fit - I do however know when I bought the rack my local Hein Gericke claimed the rack would NOT fit. I bought it anyway and it worked fine, in fact the rack is sturdy enough to be fairly decent crash bars should you need it... It takes an afternoon to fit, but is rock solid thereafter. Only thing is don't overtighten the softmetal two bottom screws that hold up each pannier - they will split (Givi sorted me with new one's free of charge though...)

Dear Sir,
I am afraid that this is the first I have heard about this rack which is
made for the Tiger 955 fitting this bike and as I am sure you will
appreciate I am only able to tell you what I have been told by the
manufacturing people in Italy. However I will make a note of what you
have said for future reference,
Many Thanks

Hello,
I appreciate your feedback, but after speaking to other Triumph Tiger
owners who claimed the PL725 rack would fit my bike OK I decided to try
for myself. I purchased the racks and fitted these with absolutely no
problem today.
Giving people incorrect advice like you've done below doesn't say a lot
about your customer service - surely it would be beneficial to
yourselves to actually check the facts instead of handing out incorrect
information? I'm obviously happy the racks fit, as your cases come
recommended, but I would have appreciated it if I got the correct
information in the first place.
Regards,

I have the Givi pannier mountings on my 2003 955i. They were fitted by its previous owner so I'm afraid I can offer no advice on the part number, but I would advise that if you use your bike all year round, you may need to send them off to be bead blasted and powder coated after a couple of years when the original finish dissolves and leaves you with rusty-red steel.
Other than that I have no complaints whatsoever - they look the business when their finish is brought up to the standard of the bike they're attached to

I've got the Givi setup on my 01 955 Tiger, It works great even though it is a bit wide. I use a 460 bag on the left and a 360 on the right. That puts the outside edge of the bags even distance from center. The rack sticks out further on the right to get around the exhaust.
Here is a link to a photo of the rear,
If I were to do it again I think I would have bought the "E" series boxes, The have a little squarer lines and a little stiffer lid
givi photo
There are a few more interesting photos in the album on that sight

The rack Givi list will fit all fuel injected Tigers from 99 onwards, regardless of what Givi or dealers will try and tell you. I ran a set fine on my 99, but soon got fed up with the finish quality. In my case they lasted less than a year before I asked for them to be exchanged under warranty. Unfortunately the replacements took so long to arrive that I gave up and swapped to Touratech. But, if you do go with them they are fine - just do as suggested above and get them refinished.

Thanks for all the replies. I've ordered the Kappa KL725 equivalent (cheaper) even though i got this reply today :-
Dear Sir,
I am sorry but we are unable to mount panniers on the 02 onwards models, I don't know why but Italy has never designed them for it.
Sorry

So, all the correspondence that TorqueyT went through has had NO effect at all!
BTW, I'm going to fit the K21(E21 Givi) panniers. I don't need a huge amount of capacity as it's only me on the bike. Also they won't be sticking out too far on the exhaust side.

It's cheap Bill from the Colonies.....
Take a look at http://www.triumphrat.net/modules.ph...view_photo.php
to see how I did it with very little $. The boxes are voting machine boxes I got on eBay for $16 each. The top box is 1 1/2 boxes. They are aluminum, o-ring sealed, and I installed locks. They are on the GIVI rack I got on the bike. The wreck I bought demonstrated that the mounting of the rack needed to be modified, the last crash caused the rack to break the inner fender into a number of pieces. I reworked the rear center mount with aluminum bars that go from the rack to the rear steel frame in front of the brake light. I, too, have used the boxes in conjunction with the Thunderbike bars, as crash bars. Since we are so dry in Arizona, rust isn't an issue. A little high-temp barbecue flat black, and things look good as new!
Panniers are saddlebags out in the wild west!
