Dear all,

As you are no doubt aware, this excellent site is growing day by day. The quality of the contributions for information and discussion is in almost every case right on the mark. I for one enjoy the humour amongst us, which is always funny without getting inappropriate. Keep it up folks it is good stuff

However it is apparent to me that there is sufficient content now to consider re-organising the Tiger Trails in some way? This is just an idea at the moment, some of my fellow moderators are thinking along the same lines.

As you are probably aware, it is possible to make a discussion thread 'Sticky' so that it remains at the top of our list. The only down side to this is when you get several 'sticky' postings, it forces the latest entries further down the page.

Perhaps it may be possible to sub-divide the Forum into different headings. Perhaps something like 'General Tiger chat', Maintenance, Buy & Sell, Ride-Outs etc.
Not unlike the main menu page?

Can you give it some thought and consider what you would like to see in our Forum?. I would appreciate any feedback from you all. Yes it will mean more work for us moderators to keep it all together, but i think i speak for my colleagues in saying that we would do that willingly

In the meantime, can i ask you to perhaps search the archives before posting new entries, in case it has been raised before. If it has, there is no problem in bringing it back to life whatsoever. This will hopefully keep things together rather than several postings with good sound information spread across several threads. Potentially this information could be lost at a vital time to one of the members.

I'll keep you posted, but let me know what you think in the meantime

Thanks for reading

Jim - Forum Moderator :-g

Have the same categories as "Triumph-Tiger.com" then all the people, like me, who visit both sites will know where they are.

Nice idea Jim, have you passed it through Shawn yet!?
I think that it could be done but it is another layer in the system.
This might cause problems in the programming of search routines but give it a whirl and get the creative juices following.

Here is my twopenney's

TriumphRAT is the main site that I look at but I do pop in to the other Tiger communities, each one has it’s own style and usual suspects in residence. I like the community feel of Triumph RAT, also with having the Legend and having had the Daytona 12 and Sprint, I pop in to see if I can help out there. One idea is a ride report area in the tiger section, but we have one in the main section ‘Places to go, People to see’ I am interested in seeing what other people are doing on their bikes not just Tiger Tamers, if somebody finds an exiting place while riding a Trophy then I want to here about it. One of the things about TriumphRAT is that the model specific forums are listed first and many people don’t go exploring the rest. I think the community pages would be better at the top of the main page and the bike specific listed lower. Adding a maintenance section or a buy&sell to the tiger trails is segregating the community. The talk of both lights on at once was repeated over several forums, as was the answer because we discussed it within the Tiger Trails and not the Maintenance general forum.

Sorry this sounds a bit negative and I think I know what you are trying to do. The model specific photo album was a good idea and seems to work when people know where the button is, but this was only taken up by the Sprint boys on the rest of the site.
Getting a sharing community is no easy task and we are all guilty of posting stuff in our little forum that should be posted else where for the general good, this dilutes the knowledge base and also makes for repeating answers. On the other hand moving threads is work for the mods and gets up peoples noses so there is no easy answer.
On the positive side I have had a few ideas that I have wanted to talk to you about. How about a sticky locked thread so that only mods can add to it like the FAQ on the Yahoo site, this would back up the photo album with words and links and would be a great help to new comers as a resource not a talking point.

Anyway enough of my ramblings

Keep it rubber side down

I agree with knarf, a place to buy and sell would be handy, though from other Forums I have seen, if you have to many sections then postings tend to end up in the wrong areas making searching/browsing difficult

Like many here i browse a number of Tiger related forums, this one is the one I seem to enjoy most. It also seems to be the most active (?) with every few days more threads added of a different nature. I have to admit the UKGSers site has to be one of the best for two wheel biking fraternity. Shame not one like that for us lot over here !! Any site that will draw more Tiger owners to it to share info etc has to be a move in the right direction. If there is one really good community .... Problem is so many various sites with members both side of the pond !!

As always though the work of the moderators must be applauded :-g

I like the idea of a 'market place' sorted by model or maybe category? (clothing, tires etc.)

The current one needs to be sifted through. Depending on how much time is at hand it will get a peek or none at all if there is nothing TIGER on the first page.

I support any 'sort' titles that let you go the a primary interest quickly. It must take a while to build and use but would sure add a '3rd dimension' to the RAT site.

I would suggest that most recent replies appear first.

I think a buy/sell category would be good, but that is as far as I would break it down.

I like everything together, but I agree that most recent posts should appear first.

I would restrict the use of "sticky" posts to the moderator. If some other user has a post they think should stay at the top then they can pass it by the moderator and he can make the call whether or not to make it sticky.

If the general user wants to get his post back to the top he only has to make an additional reply or remark in the thread to move it back to the top.

My two cents - which may not even be worth two cents since I am just considering the purchase of a Tiger and do not actually own one yet.
