I have just bought a set of the Touratech crash bars for my 04tiger, does anyone have to hand the torque settings for the bolts I will have to remove to fit it ?

The 2 big 55 torx upper motor mount bolts are 95Nm (70 Lb ft)

The instructions are just adequate but do one side at a time. Put on the cross brace before all bolts are tightened fully.

The 2 top mount bolts are best tightened with a 1/2" drive torx, though can be done with a 3/8 drive version. At 70 lbs, a 3/8" drive seems to squeal for mercy and must be near the limit (or past).

You will want to ensure the torx driver in FULLY inserted into the bolt...it is sort of like a Phillips screw head and can be rounded out.

Run the 55 torx bolt and nut down as tight as possible then with a 1/2" drive and a full size torque wrench, holding the nut captive (you may need to use your hand to 'shield' rubber parts from being compressed by the wrench - you will see) they cinch up pretty quick.

I found that the radiator hose on the left side was close to brackets and simply slipped it down 1/4" for additional clearance. With a cup of coffee - a 1 hour job.

I found it a whole lot easier to undo the oil cooler and swing it clear.

The two big upper mount bolts you refer to are actually star bits not torx, if you look closely you will see they are scalloped between the points.

Apart from finding that one of my engine mounting bolts had been cross threaded from new my Touratechs went on easy. I did find, after a few months, that the radiator was touching the bars very lightly on the left side. Best to check everything after a while when it has settled in.
