Hi everybody !

My battery is almost empty and I am afraid I won't have enough juice to start my Tiger, can anybody tell me if it is safe to connect a car battery to it, or should I rather go downhill and hope it starts ?

Thanks for the advice

Slyos!

Why is your battery empty? If it's kna**ered, it won't recharge properly anyway. I have jump started a bike from a car battery before (Suzuki GSX600F) without damage to the bikes electrics. I've never push started a Tiger though and don't reckon I'd like to. I tried to push mine up hill to simply turn it round once and it damn near killed me

You will, however, probably need a new battery. If the battery's flat because it's run down in storage, get yourself an Optimate III whilst you're at it. If any of my bikes are of the road for more than a week or so, I just plug them in and the Optimate maintains and conditions the battery. If the 95 doesn't have the 'lighter' socket, there's a permanent connection lead that comes with it for connecting to the battery terminals.

Good Luck Dude.

Thanks !

My battery is flat because I nearly emptied it while trying to start the bike, it was very cold and sleeping outside, and it hadn't ran for a while.
The battery is OK ans so is the alternator so I don't think there will be a problem to recharge it afterwards.

Cheers

Shouldn't be a problem to bumpstart it, did it on mine when the old battery finally expired. No need for a hill, just give it a push to get it up to jogging speed then hop on & punt it into gear.
