I have now done 4,000 miles on the original Anakees.

There is about 4 to 5mm of tread left.

I am about to do a 1,000 mile round trip to France, will they survive until I get back?

How many miles can I realistically expect to get from them?

What are the best tyres as a replacement from a mileage consideration?

Chris

my anakees had 3800 miles on them and I was facing a 2500 mile trip to the Pyrenees.I didn't think it was worth risking the trip for the sake of part-worn tyres, although you should easily get another 1000 miles.
I decided to replace with Micheli Pilot Roads. This is a proper sports touring tyre so no off-roading (not what I do). A much better tyre for road use.So far They've done over 4000 miles (Pyrenees and Highland Raids) and I'm pleased with them. Squared off now due to motorway use so I will replace them with the same again.

With Anakees your front should outlast your rear by up to 2:1 so you should only be looking at changing the rear ?

In any event I think the rear won't need changing until after your trip.

The original Anakees on my Tiger have have now done 6000+ and the rear is good for about another 1000 miles. The front is nowhere near changing.

My bike's now done 14,500 miles. I changed the rear at 8,600 miles (for another Anakee) and the front will need changing very soon... Am going for BT020's front and rear next after a recommendation from a courier that had done 32,000 miles in 6 months

This seemed like a pretty cool page about tires. I guess it's a bit dated but I still see people talking about some of the same tires: http://faq.f650.com/FAQs/TireOpinionsFAQ.htm

Hi,

Thanks for the guidance guys.

It would seem 8k miles is not unreasonable to expect, hence they should easily last me the trip and probably into next year as well.

Regards

Chris
