I just got back from a solo 3000 mile round trip to the Alps on my Tiger. Anyone looking for inspiration should take a look at the photos I took along the way. I recommend you select the slide show option with a 5 second delay, put on your favourite music, open a bottle of wine, sit back and enjoy !

Chris,

Great photographs and you've got me already thinking about where to go next year.

Looks like you were pretty lucky with the weather - I did the Mosel and Black Forest in May and had two dry days and 8 drenched ones!

Will you be posting your Garmin route file on the web site as I'd love to see exactly where you went?

I'll have to watch these again later with that glass of wine you mentioned!!

Thanks again!

Ken... :-D

Hi Chris

Looks like you touched on were we've been over the last 30 years in one trip!!!,rangeing from the Grand St Bernard to the back streets of Le-Mans which is were we eat when on our yearly 24 hour race in April.

The tiger has just rolled of the work bench with new rubber and fresh oil for our trip a week tommorow.

Picture Alps-021 called Lake Lucern is technically wrong since there is no Lake Lucern in Switzerland, its real name is Vierwaldstättersee (in English: Lake of the Four Forest Cantons). It's always refered to as Lake Lucern because that's the name of the town where all the tourists see it from.

Looks like great route you took. But I wonder if you actually enjoyed the riding that much because you must have stopped so often to take all those wonderful photos?
Or did you ride it all a second time without stopping?

Fantastic photos of a fascinating trip, Chris!

And just out of curiosity, what is the software you use to create and display your galleries? Is it for UNIX-based servers or Windows NT Server?

I've just dug out my photos of 1982 (yes, yes, before you were born...probably). Anyway, the glacier on the Furka pass had a wall of ice about 10 metres high where picture 77 is taken. Global warming by heck!

Yes, the Swiss are seriously worried about Global warming and it's effect on the glaciers. They're always showing pictures in the newspapers taken over a course of several years where you can see the obvious receding that's taking place.
