Hello all....this is my first post on the forum.

Picked up my '06 Tiger a just few days ago. Traded-in a BMW R1150RS for the Tiger. Rode the Beemer for a couple of years, but the riding position never felt right; what with wrist (carpal tunnel) issues from 20+ years at a computer and some back problems as well.

When I decided to change mounts, I considered a BMW R12000GS, the Tiger and Suzuki's V-Strom. I wanted something with more rider comfort than the RS and about the same power. I was less than impressed with the Suzuki. My local BMW dealer also sells Triumph. He had a couple of low-mileage GS bikes and two '06 Tigers. He loaned me his Tiger ('02? lime green with the 100th anniversary logo in the tank) for a 2-3 hour test ride. That was it! Didn't bother with the GS, it was just too bulky compared to the Tiger.

Haven't logged many miles yet, but the rest of the summer is still ahead. A few observations so far: Overall performance is similar between the RS and Tiger. The Beemer has a little more low end torque. The Tiger has a much smoother running engine and less vibration. Riding in town, city traffic is way easier on the Tiger. The RS can handle more lean at high speeds. The Tiger is much better at slow cornering. Putting the Tiger up on the center stand is more a case of setting a goal than an actual practice. I think some modification in that area is in order.

Enough rambling....it's time to ride.

Putting the Tiger on the centre stand is a doddle ! Many years ago I bought a CB400/4 and nearly ruptured myself trying to put that little machine on it's stand until the guy I bought it from demonstrated the technique - and it is the same for the Tiger. Simply hold the bike upright by the left grip , push gently down on the stand footplate with right foot and lift also gently by the rear left footpeg hanger with right hand. The bike will roll on to the stand easy as a pint of the black going down. :chug:

Mke sure it is upright and as mike says no problem - although I tend to push on the stand lever rather more than gently.

A lot of people make the mistake of trying to get the bike on the stand whilst it's canted over towards them.

To make it a two finger job, do as suggested and keep the bike upright with both stand legs down. Stand into the bike so you are right over it, rather than leaning forward - then, holding both the left grip and the footrest hanger, bounce the front down a bit & as it springs back, a gentle two-fingered pull on the footrest hanger usually does it.

I'm speaking as someomeone who dropped his 2 day old Tiger whilst getting this wrong!

I always center bikes while sitting on them. Kick down on the centerstand, and pull back.
