Has anyone else had problems with the 95 tiger stalling after running about 4-6 miles ? After waiting about 10-15 minutes the bike will restart and run for about 5 minutes. (less than 1 mile). It will continue this same pattern of running for about 1 minute and then stalling until it is turned off for about 10-15 minutes.During the time that the bike will not start, the engine will turn over, but it seems as if no fire is getting to the cylinders. After several hours of not running the bike will again start the problem at the beginning.

I purchased the bike about 4 months ago, after it had been sitting for about 8 months. The gas was changed out, and the needles on the left hand carburetor cleaned. The bike than ran with no problems for about 4000 miles. I was told that the electrical box was replaced just before I bought the bike. The bike has less than 15,000 miles.

I have checked the gas for water, drained the tank (none found) and refilled with fresh gas. I also checked the filters and they are all clear.

Anyone out there with a similar problem that was fixed, or any ideas in what direction I should look ?

Any help will be appreciated.

sounds like needle and seat all though my bike had ignition problem put a ohm meter on the coils to find the values.

I would also recommend a change of plugs as a matter of course.

HI,
I have a 955i Tiger but I had a carb version before this. I ride in dirt a lot and I hated the air filtration system. I fitted it with 2 Unifilter filtration pods and fitted a dynojet jetting kit. It went much better, used less fuel and I could just clean the filter pods and not mess around with removing the airbox all the time.

Also an "out there" suggestion. I like to have the clutch takeup only about 10mm from the grip. If it is just a little too close, the clutch can drag just a little and cause stalling, even though the level is held at the grip. This can get worse as the oil and clutch heats up. Does you bike stall when in neutral, or just in gear?

Put some injection cleaner into the bike, this has work for me in the past on CARB and Injection engines. Its seems to clean it out.

I've have some very similar problems on Cars and its alway been due to a oxidised rotor arm and distrubitor cap (not sure if this applies to bikes though.)
