Hi, I picked up on this subject from the sports/touring 955 forum. I used Scottoilers for years and agree they're great . But when looking for an oiler for my SSSA RS I decided to go for a Loobman. It works fine: well oiled chain, none where it's not wanted.
I did have a problem with the fitting instructions (with a large piece of wire!) but made my own bracket with a small strip of galavanised sheet ('bout 1/2" x 2"). On a conventional swinging arm it should be easier.
I use normal engine oil and have had no problems for about 1/5th the cost of a Scottoiler.......

There are so many variables, I guess it comes down to you pays your money and you takes your pick, however, I believe you will get roughly what you pay for. Cheap systems will work but are normally manual etc etc. More expensive systems are normally automatic and the best are fully controleable.

As a confirmed manual sprayer, it took me a loooong time to decide to go the auto route. After only a few rides I am a convert 100%. I find the pro-oiler to be very good at what it does. It is very well manufactured and back up from Pablo has been superb. No its not the cheapest oiler out there but it does as its supposed to irrespective of weather, distance memory or whatever. I suppose you could say a Lada will do the job of a Lexus in its basic form but the two are not directly comparible. This is not a slight on Lada or cheap oilers just an observation that some more expensive units do it better/easier.
