High guys.

Thought that I would get myself registered & hopefully join the fray.

Rapidly approaching my first service on my second tiger. Having just traded my old 2000 yellow 885i for a demurely ORANGE 955i. Can't wait to get the service over & done with so that I can get rid of the running in & use the extra performance that the 955 has over the 885. Loved my old bike to bits But even though I am limited to 6000 revs at the minute I can feel that there is a scary bit more performance there just for the grabbing.

Welcome to the tiger trails bigD,,,

what year did you get, is it the latest 05? model.

You probably will notice a difference in performance, especially the mid range, smooth and linear but rapid. On the right road I've had sports bikes backing off, just can't stay with the tiger. But you do have to bully it.

Welcome to our forum,

I did the same as you and traded in an 885i for the 955i. I really loved my old Tiger, and questioned my sanity for all of about 10 minutes!, the 955i is awesome in comparison. Power is there almost everywhere, with 4th gear being so tall it just keeps going and going!

Fit the aftermarket can, fit a K&N and the right tune and yee flippin ha! does it go??  Even 2 up it still kicks it, just ask Tango, he's been on the back!

I am about to clock up 12,000 miles on Stripey and it just gets quicker.................

Just enjoy it

Jim

Not a word of a lie Jim, I was impressed with the sound of the off road can and K+N, first gear seemed much longer than mine in standard trim, but that's about to change.

I did have to hang on a bit.

Even in standard trim the bike is awsome, can't wait to get the mod's done, will keep ya' all informed.

look left young man and you will see it as an 04 model!

Another Scot joins the fray

welcome m8 to a well chosen bike. I believe you will notice a huge difference between your old and new bikes and that demure colour looks sooo good in the sun 9mind you, being near glasgow you aint going to see that so much).

I bought the 04 model because I thought that the new one looked pretty naff. graphics on the tank look good & I think the fairing looks better without the "eyebrows" but the silver frame??? & what about those wheels???? What were they thinking about, I heard that they were introducing the alloys & was really pleased but was so disappointed when I saw them. I had been intending to change the bike in July/August but decided I had better jump before the last of the 04s disappeared. As it was I think I got the last orange o4 tiger out of Hinkley.

I have been talking to my local dealer & he is shifting as many Tigers as he can get hold of but he was telling me that in the week after I ordered mine he had at least a dozen people asking for a wire wheeled one.

Catch you all later.

I'm with you all the way on the 04 looks. I feel sure the Tiger in this format will become a classic and sought after model in the near future.

If I was given an 05, I think it would have to be the BRG as this is the only colour that sits wel with the silver frame and alloys. But it still looks like a whole different bike up to my silver 04.

Now, I'm going to duck back down below the parapet before I get knocked off !

nope agree the silver frame looks cheap and nasty. Only my opinion mind. the wheels are ok but the one I saw the finish on the wheels was very poor. I like the removed eyebrows but felt the new stripes looked too plastic. The shading was too visible.

Personally dont like the green which was the colour I saw but would have thought the silver frame would have looked best on the silver bike - less intrusive.

When you look at the new S3 with the black frame it also just looks soooo much better than previous versions with the Silver frame. Mind you my TT had a silver frame that looked real good

I did see the 04 on the left, but over here in the UK all the latest 05? models will have the 04 prefix until September.

Maybe you've been away too long.

Will really confuse things now cos to the uninitiated my bike is a "T" plate. Got a private number see. I was given it as a gift for the last Tiger & its a bit apt.

T900 NUT

Tried to get T3 NUT but it was gone, couldn't get 885 or 955 either which would have been nice. Getting the old number on the new bike was a big hassle as well, I had to do all the paperwork myself cos my dealer was an unhelpfull git & it costs 80 quid. On the subject of unhelpfull gits (my local dealer) has anyone else out there had to wait three weeks to get a first service done?
"Bustin my heid" as we say here abouts. You would think that they would allocate a service slot within the first weelk for a new bike going out, I dont know anyone who picks up a new set of wheels that wouldn't hit 500 miles in a couple of days. Ok their workshops are busy but you would think they would make space for a new brief wouldn't you. Anyway only a couple more days & I will be FREE. :-D :-D :-D :-D
