Hi Guys,

I'm off to Germany soon...has anyone done either the black tape mod...or some other modification to the headlights to avoid dazzling anyone on the wrong side of the road?

I'd welcome any advice!

Ride safe!

Ken...

Put black tape on mine (like this)

and it seemed to work fine.

Hi Ian,

That's just what I was looking for!

I did think that it would be that side of the lights, but I don't have a lot of time to experiment at the moment.

Many thanks....This forum is a great source of advice!

Ride safe!

Ken... :-D

buy some of the clear beam deflectors rather than black tape if you plan on night riding. The headlights are not as good as you would want to blank off some of their power!

Interesting question!!

Wobbled over to France in 1974 on a 3 cylinder 750 Kawasaki two stroke, when all the froggies had yellow lights(i didn't bother so they gave me a wide berth knowing i wasn't one of them) and this year our cross channel crossings go into three figures, and have never done a thing to the headlights,in fact it's rather nice haveing your headlight beam on the dotted line in the middle of the road, instead of the gutter!!!,it much easier to work out were your going on an unlit road.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the advice.

I've copied Ian's black tape pattern and I'll see how it goes. I wasn't going to do anything as I doubt that I'll be riding at night very much, but I'd like to avoid attracting attention from the law!

Thanks again.....I'll let you know how it goes.

Ride Safe!

Ken...

The lights are a side line!!,things like running out fuel in France on a motorway(it's illegal),trying to cross switzerland without buying a vinette, and my pet hate motorways in Germany were 120 won't get you in the outside lane and always the risk of getting run down by someone doing 180 plus.
