Just wondering. I haven't had my bike out it a while and now that I'm back riding, I wanted to get an idea from the rest of you about mileage. My 99 on last fill up got 37mpg. This is commuter traffic and taking off quickly from lights (no Sunday driving, if you know what I mean) Does this sound about right?

Hi 99TIGER, not sure what the mpg is, but my fuel light always comes on at between 190 and 200 miles... best I ever got on a long run at 80-85mph was 210 miles before fuel light came on... would guess that's about 48 mpg...
Russ
P.S. Mine's not really fair though as I ride 50 miles a day and 40 miles of that is motorway

In 7500 miles last summer, my '99 averaged 50mpg. It seemed that 75 was the magic number, the mileage was 42-50 above 75, up to about 53 at highway speeds below 75. I was all stock at that point and have since gone to 19 teeth on the front. City traffic is still around 40, but I drive like a geezer! Still faster than the SUV's, but not crotch rocket style.

Thanks guys. I guess high 30's for town driving isn't bad then, since I'm a bit heavy with the throttle. I'm itching to take it on a longer ride, but have been busy. I've made it a point to ride it much more since the weather is nicer. My other vehicle is a Ford F-350 crewcab 4x4 diesel which gets 15mpg. With diesel and gas prices pretty high right now, I'm riding the bike as much as possible! Though, I'm sure the money I'm "saving" will be eat up once I realize I'll need new tires, etc. a heck of a lot sooner!

So far, on my new '06 (4300miles) I would rate the gas mileage as abysmal. Around 35mpg. I love this bike, but there is little to reccomend if you are after high mileage.

If anyone really wants to they can covert my UK consumption figures to US, but I get about 45mpg on the urban commute, and best consumption has been in excess of 60mpg over two tank fulls.

My '05 with 1700 miles on the clock is averaging around 44mpg. I followed the break-in instructions to the letter and was averaging 38 to 40 during that period. Now that she is broken in correctly, I am not real easy on the throttle but tend to not rev it over 7000rpm
My friend's '01 that he rode from Colorado to California after he bought it last year averaged around 48mpg and doing about 80mph for most of the trip.

1 gallon [UK] = 1.200 949 92 gallon [US, liquid]
1 gallon [US, liquid] = 0.832 674 188 gallon [UK]
So, 45mpg (UK) equals 37.47033846mpg (US) approximately
and 60mpg (UK) equals 49.96045128mpg (US)
That's really close to my numbers since Foxee probably drives in a less geezerly manner than yours truly!
I also ride at average elevations above 2500 feet (US) so that probably has some effect on my fuel consumption. I've also heard that gas (US) has more energy than petrol (UK), that's why the gallons have to be bigger!

I commute 54 miles each way on I-66 (VA), with the first 30 miles at about 75 MPH, and the last 24 at 10-40 MPH, depending on traffic. I get about 45 +/- with my '05 955.

After about 7,500 miles on my '05 I get between 30 and 37 mpg depending on how agressive I ride. On a leisurely cruise with me mates last week we rode about 350 miles and the fuel light came on at 198 the first time then 189 the second, reduced mileage was probably due to High winds.
Not great mileage, my Triumph TBS triple does considerably better but the Tiger has more oooomph and fantastic :-D value.
Cheers,
Martin
