New Tiger 1050 spied
MCN has spied Triumph’s new 1050 Tiger in showroom-ready trim during final road tests. It’s due to be launched this summer. For full details – and news of Triumph’s all-new fuel injection system for parallel twins, see MCN, out on March 29, 2006.

End quote.

The new Tiger is getting pretty close! I'm pretty keen for more info on this, so if anyone gets a hold of the 29 March issue of MCN, could they please update this post. More pics would be good too!

Amen!

If that's "showroom-ready trim" then it's not an adventure bike and it's definitely not a tourer. What is it?

As time goes on and the new Tiger is shown to look like the original MCN spyshots, I think certain people ought to be apologising for their cynicism towards this august organ!

Oh doubting Thomas!

A certain gent owes me 5 bucks too. I'm rich! Rich I tell you!

It could be called a new TDM, not a Tiger, at least to my eyes ! ! !

but

here are just a few thoughts . . .

. . . altough the Tiger is probably the most popular model amongst Triumph's range, people at Hinckley surely want to boost sales way beyond the current point; and this target cannot be achieved with bikes like the present model.
No matter how much in love we are with out cats, we are just a tiny piece of the bike world out there.

There's no doubt that Triumph makes products with character and uniqueness. But these ingredients are probably not enough to guarantee its existence in a very competitive market.

New customers are required, and the challenge is to keep a balance between the current customers who are used to the distinctive styling of the Tiger and the potential ones.
Really hard job that is ! ! !

Welcome to the new globalised era my friends ! ! !

cheers

nondas

that may well be true but if that is the case then stop calling this NEW bike a NEW TIGER. It obviously isnt and never will be in any of the guises shown recently.

Looks like an opportunity lost. Guess it will be a GS1200 after all! Hmm, maybe there will be a 2004 silver Tiger going cheap in Canberra circa September/October!

looks more like a faired speed triple, than a tiger, specially with the stubby backend

In your opinion that is DJR................

In MY opinion, it still retaiins some of the Tiger elements..Yes it has lost all offroad possibilities, but were Triumph ever going to produce as focussed a bike as the GS...i doubt it. I think they are pretty sure of their target market and have produced a bike along those lines.

I think it will handle like a road bike (and a good one at that !) the forks, brakes and chassis look top notch, the signature tank has been retained and the fairing is a bit sharper looking, but not dissimilar. With the 1050 engine in, it will be very smooth and quick for sure.

Like it or loathe it, it is the future of the brand...just like the old twin tigers looked nothing like the first 900 Tiger, and that only vaguely resembled the efi's of today. It is an on going process that we either choose to embrace, or dismiss as an imposter, as we think fit................

you takes your pick i guess.....

Just about sums it up!!

Interesting that BM are hedging their bets, with the new HP2,with a SuperMoto version, what are the odds there will be a 1200GS version within 12 months of the Tiger being launched.
