So I ordered Pilot Roads for my 05 Tiger. They finally came in, and they've been mounted. I've not seen them yet, but the tech says the rear looks small on the bike, to the point of being a bit weird looking! Oh no! Anyone with the Pilots out there to ease my fears????

I run the Pilot Roads on my 03 Tiger and like them. As long as you have the correct size on there you should be fine.

That's good to know, thanks. They're the right size, I hope he's overreacting.

DJR - Thanks for the pics! I can't wait to see mine. Now it's run into a problem with the coolant running out of the overflow tank...

possible faulty cap (been known) its been overfilled (a known issue, Triumphs all like to be on the low side of the markers or they all blow their tops) or air in the system. Whichever it is, it should be a very simple fix.

do you know if your fan is kicking in?

A mate of mine had the problem with his and noticed that the fan was not starting up when the bike got hot!

Just a thought! from a novice :???:

We're down to verifing the hoses are routed correctly or rad cap. No air in system, fan works. I'm betting on the cap (if only one were in stock!).

Just an update.

On the overheating, the shop called Triumph tech support (US). Once they found out how many miles my bike had (8600 +/-) they said it was probably caused by a malformed thermostat housing. They sent a new one (warranty) and when the old one was removed, the tech could see some evidence of warping. Also, the rad cap was bad, which seemed to be caused but the warped housing (it chewed up the rubber gasket on the cap) The bike has been perfect ever since, no more coolant overflow, no high temp readings etc. Seems like this might be a somewhat common issue.

So if you have an '05 and you get close to 8000 miles, keep an eye on the overflow tank.

BTW - The Pilot Roads and Hagon front springs make the Tiger a MUCH nicer riding bike!!! I highly recommend both upgrades!!!
:-D
