what octane gas is everybody using. i noticed my gas mileage had been dropping. i've dropped down to midgrade 89 octane from premieum 91+. now it seems to be improving.

The bike is designed to run on Euro 95 or american equivalent.

Running higher octane is just costing cash that gets blown out the exhaust

Blimey, on standard unleaded I get disappointed with the 42-45mpg my Tiger gets on the commute, but on the open road it'll easily return anywhere from 55 to 60 plus. Premium unleaded gets me just shy of 10% further.

I have a 2000 885i and routinely get 48-50MPG using 89RON. I have never tried high-test (91), but I believe djr is correct, unless the control computer is setup to use the higher octane, i.e., knock sensor input for advancing the spark, you should just use the Triumph recommended fuel octane as the higher octane is not utilized. I don't have an explanation for the results others have posted here. :hammer:

my mileage seemed to always be good 46 to 48mpg on my 100 mile commute. but after my 12000 mile service it's seemed to go down. dealer says nothing should have effected it. i'm at a loss. :???:

I don't get this. My '06 with 3,800miles on it only gets 35-38mpg, running on the reccomended 89 octane. I wish I could get that up, or have you folks with better numbers changed sprockets and/or exhaust?

my 03 runs at 6l/100km and thats with the aftermarket exhaust. Thats 39mpg US and 47mpg UK. Sometimes if i dont push too hard it gets better but very seldom any worse.
