My dad has a triumph tiger 855 (i believe) its r-reg and carburettor model, well could anyone give me simple, direct instructions to removing and replacing the spark plugs, i.e. does the tank need to come off, and can you gain access if you raise the tank still connected, baring in mind my dads a div when it comes to mechanics. I would help him but never worked on his bike and has got a manual but gets confused as its for several models. So can anyone help me out with direct intstructions Any help greatly apprciated.

Hes left it for a while and its tempermental and wont start on choke, its just catchin and barely managed to start yesterday, its turning over, guess its old spark plugs as its due for a service.

Cheers

Ash

Yes the tank will have to come off.
Once this is out of the way you will have unrestricted access to the top end of the motor where the three spark plugs are located.
Just take off each plug lead/coil and use a long reach plug spanner to remove/replace the plugs.
Be careful not to overtighten any screws/plugs here as it is easy if you are not careful to strip threads.
TF.

You checked the battery's ok, could be why it's not catching.

A good dose of WD40 round the HT leads and plugs to get rid of any damp might help also.

But a bike that's been standing with the battery conected, I'd always charge it first.

Yep could be the plugs, but it could also be the carb's.
Been left for a while, sitting outside,,,,,,? hmmm, could be the dreaded Triumph carb' rot.
