Just had the 18 tune I believe put in my new 03 with the race can.Seems I have somewhat of a flat spot at 4-4500 rpm.
It is right at my normal cruise speed.I am going up to a 19 c/shaft sprocket so I will be below that by about 500 rpm.Just wondering if there is something I can have the ‘head wrench’
who put the tune in, look for or check.
575 miles now and still holding off turning the Tiger loose.
It does have more ballz than my 885 did and is a real smile maker.
Thanks

Gearloose,

Is it a definate flat spot, or is it just different from the first tune?. The reason i say that is that i had my race can fitted at the 600 mile service, so the bike was pretty much beginning to loosen up. I noticed with the original tune that while there was plenty of power down low in the rev range, it was pretty much over further up the rev band.

When the new can was fitted, i wondered what was different, because it was not the same bike that i rode into the workshop?. It took a while before i realised that the difference comes in when you wind the 'go' lever up!

When you are happy to, get the bike in 4th gear at about 30 mph and then just nail it!, you will see what i mean. The tune seems to bring in the power at 4,500 rpm and goes pretty much all the way to the red.

If it still seems flat after you have lived with it, then it may need re-checking. But i thinnk the thing you have got to do is live with it for a while and spot the difference before you go off tweaking it, trying to find power that the tune delivers elsewhere?

Just my thoughts....

Jim
