I think I may have stumbled across the reason some of you namby pamby 955 owners complain about the stock seat. While my bike was in for a service yesterday the sods lent me a 2006 Tiger. Wasn't really fair, as they have sorely tempted me to buy one, but one thing I notice hasn't improved is the seat. Now I know that my Tiger has alot more wear, but the seat is nicely sculpted, and more rounded. Trying the 06 I noticed that the seat is flatter across the back, and narrower at the front. It really didn't feel quite right. I suspect pandering to short legged freaks may be Triumph's reasoning as it would make it easier for them to get astride. But I am pretty sure it would be less comfortable on long rides than squidgy old thing...

Any idea when this change happened?

Assuming it was indeed a production change, and not just something the dealer did for that bike, it must have been with the 2006 models. I've ridden a 2005 and it was not noticably different from the seat on my own.
