Anyone use a different seat other than a Corbin or a Gel Seat ?
Getting complaints from Mrs Pillion that its too hard for her little botty !
Don't want to pay the ridiculous amount for a Corbin so just wondered if anyone has any other recommendations ?

I thought about Corbin, I thought about gel, then I rode 8000 miles last summer on the stock seat. The biggest issue wasn't the shape, but the fact that sitting on that non-breathing, plastic surface for a long time on really hot days made the trip a three week research project on powders, balm, and ointments! My first breakthrough was to find UnderArmour shorts that did a good job of keeping the aforementioned body parts significantly dryer. Immediately after the trip I ordered a sheepskin seatcover from Sheepy Hollow in Brisbane. We use sheepskin seatcovers in our cars in the Arizona desert for their comfort in the summer, so I thought it woud be the way to go on the Tiger. It was, so far, the best investment I've made for my big yellow machine. The fit and finish of the cover are extraordinary, the comfort is amazing! I can go out and ride a six-hour day in complete comfort, even if I haven't ridden in a few weeks. The cost was less than $200, delivered to Tucson. It also looks pretty cool!

I could not get a good riding position with the stock seat. I always felt pushed forward with little room to move around. So now I have a Corbin to test this year. What has saved my ass was an Air Hawk. It is pricey but the cells really took the pressure off those pointy bones and let me sit in the saddle for hours on end. Still, it is a pad and feels like a pad- too bad someone does not just make an air seat. I also have tried a sheepskin which helped but wasn't the complete answer- for me. Certainly you are not risking the $$$ to try it. Just don't let it get soaking wet.
Also, as Bill says, the underwear does make a big difference, especially in the heat.

I bought a front and rear gel seat last year and I must admit that I really wasn't overly impressed with the confort during a tour of france. Don't get me wrong, it is better than the stock it just what i expected,. However I recently bought some airhawk seats ( www.bykebitz...). although quite pricey they are absolutely great but they do take some getting used to- the trick is to have as little air as possible to cushion your bum cheeks. My girlfriend loves her pillion airhawk and takes it off the bike to sit on the computer chair. also as it is removable you can keep it for any bike in the future.
There are two models. The original is around 120 quid but there is now a budget version made out of some other material for 69 quid. Worth a look.

Under Armour shorts and a gel seat work for me.

For the uninformed: underwear are those pant things you probably should be wearing under the chaps. Partly to keep from sticking to the seat but mostly for the benefit of those within viewing distance.
On second thought, if you have a sheepskin you may not need underwear after all.

Regarding the underwear issue. I use the lycra "under shorts" that you see rugby players wearing in cold weather. The key thing is that there are no seams to sit on. Seams cut into you after a while.
I tried a sheepskin cover on the stock seat. It worked well for comfort but was a pain in wet freezing weather 'coz it would freeze solid if left out overnight.
I ended up buying the Triumph gel seat which is brilliant.

I had Sargent seats on my '02 and they were quite comfy but I had the opposite opinion about breathability: I didn't want a seat that soaked up rain water so went back to stock.
