I received my shiny new panniers yesterday. Putting the frame on is easy, but the instructions to put the mounts on are in german. I have a template for drilling but I still haven't go a clue about how and what. Please help!!!

boocat,

Fitted and drilled my own last year and it really is pretty sim ple once you have sorted out which side to drill into, If the tread above still has'nt helped please email me and I will run through it with you.

P.S Once on give everything a wide birth for a couple of hours, first time I had mine on I collected a Rover 25 and these things don't bounce off.

My wife has one of those and it seems to bounce off most things.......

Thanks for the help. I did go onto the touratech usa website which had the unofficial mounting instructions and did the job exactly how they said to do it.

However. the very first instruction said to draw a line 68mm below the top edge and that the puck must be secured below this line. No- at first I was going to do this but found I couldn't open the pannier with the top box on. The reality is that the CENTRE of the puck must not be above the 68mm line,if so the locking wheel clears the seal ok but any higher there would have been problems

As a result I have panniers which are very flat on top to put my beer can on and relatively further back to allw my pillion access.

boocat,

Thats one of the reasons I bought the diy kit, apart from the price of course, is that if you take the time you can fit them to your own spec, my tops run level with the top of my seat so that I can throw stuff across both the panniers and seat. :-D
