Thinking of taking the Tiger to the Nurburgring this May, has anyone done this and do you think it was worth the trip?
I have done a few track days, albeit not on the Tiger.

The ring is always worth the trip. Are you planning to do the perfection training or just turn up and do a few laps? It's not always open during the day as there are courses, etc. I don't know if you can always bank on it being open in the evening. I'd recommend the perfection training.
Be cool,
Dave

Did it last year on my 955 Daytona.Absolutely fantastic and you will certainly enjoy it on a Tiger. 10 Euros a lap and worth it.We arrived in mid-afternoon but had to wait until 5pm as BMW had a corporate event on for cars.

I have done the Nurburgring twice now, once on my 885i and the other time on my 955i.
Fantastic laugh!, nerve racking....yes, terrifying....yes, manic hysterical laughter....yes
Take it easy on your first lap, keep one eye on the track and one on your mirrors. Hold your line unless you can plan in advance. Other riders coming up fast behind will already have planned for the corner so any rapid change of line could be a problem.
It is 14 miles of sheer mental fun, especially when you get the hang of it after a bit. I will never forget the look of puzzlement on the face of a GSX 600 rider when i came rattling through on the inside of him on one of the bends. I can imagine him thinking "....what the f**k....what is that ?..."
Dont try and do too much on your first visit, and take a break between laps. You need to let your brain catch up and the adrenalin to calm down a bit  . Ride within your capabilities and dont be tempted to 'have it'...the ring will bite back if you do. There are a couple of place to get food and drinks there which is good. (they do an excellent curried bratwurst and fries !!)
Most of all....enjoy it. For me it was a pilgrimage, and it lived up to all the stories i had heard.

Gents,
The ring it is, looks awesome on the website. Just hope I don't get overtaken by the woman on Top Gear who wents as fast in a Transit Van as that tw*t Clarkeson did in the Jag.
Cheers
Dave

When I did the perfection training it was run by Schuberthelm (and you got a free lid!). The course was 3 days but the last day was 1/2 assessment and 1/2 open practice (with other vehicles allowed on, too. Very dangerous!).
The two days training are the best. They cone off parts of the ring and you keep doing and redoing the same stretch. They then get rid of the cones and you do complete laps, nose to tail, very fast.
Many don't stay for the last day. If you do go on with cars around, you have to be very careful. The two friends that came with me flew home with one decent leg between them.
Be cool,
Dave

Hi Clive,
The website I looked at was Nurburgring.org.uk There are some dire warnings about bikes on there, but it is packed with good info about keeping to the right to let the sports cars (and transits) through, accomadation etc.
