Whether we can thank global warming I don't know but we have managed trips into Wales in December and January (Yesterday). It was cold, particularly when we went through freezing fog.Turned the heated grips on for the first time and didn't feel guilty. The roads were pretty dry but covered in salt.We had a high speed blast down A4212 at the back of Bala with the added advantage of no risk of police radar at this time of year. The Tiger seems to inspire confidence on roads with poor grip,I assume due to a combination of suspension and a very linear power delivery. This nearly caught me out as we were travelling down a road with a lot of muck and slime over it,and very twisty,as I accelerated through a bend at about 60 the rear wheel had a bit of a power slide and the handlebars flapped.Only lasted a second but it was enough to put me off my rhythm as I watched my mate disappear from view on his Firestorm (winter bike).Back onto a clean road and no further problems. All in all we had a great day and the Tiger is a lot easier to keep clean than my T'bird.I've now convinced myself that I'm not missing the Daytona even though Woods have 3 prergistered brand new 955 Daytonas for £6000 - a bargain.
I rode wiithout the topbox or panniers as I'm not keen on luggage and will only fit for major touring.

I keep saying it, the Tiger is pretty good at everything it does.

I also keep saying that in the real world it doesnt need more power. Seems you are starting to see that for yourself!

I am getting used to the Tiger and for sure in the real world there is plenty enough power.Nevertheless there is nothing like the experience of opening up a 955i Daytona with a carbon can in second and third gear. The combination of a howling motor and all that acceleration is addictive, especially in a 3 kilometre long Swiss tunnel.Anyway that's done with and the Tiger is as much fun but in a different way.

John, If you fit the Triumph "Off Road" silencer you can make your Tiger howl quite nicely. This is a good choice as it looks identical to the Standard item and the howl is subdued enough not attract the Police in the UK.

John, I've got a BlueFlame Carbon Twin Can on my 2003 Tiger and I think you'll find the howl from that is, er, bloody brilliant !

Not only does it look good but with the 2 baffles removed (honestly offisher, the can has a Kitemark!) it sounds as good as any bike and its road legal (well with the removable baffles, er, unremoved!)

Tigers rule !!! :-D

I have the Triumph offroad can which sounds ok although it's relatively quiet. This might be due to the wind noise meaning I can't hear it once the bike is moving above 40mph.I'm happy enough as it won't attract police attention. The other aspect is revs. The howl is spine tingling on a Speed Triple or Daytona with a carbon can.Obviously the Tiger has a lower rev ceiling and it doesn't need revving as hard due to the engine producing more torques at low revs.
