What made me but a Tiger?

The short answeres are

its big and bouncy isn't it
and its being my long time favourite bike.

The longer answer is that I gave it all careful consideration, checked the literature, toured the dealers, browse the net,

Thought about Hornets/Bandits (here I always wanted to up the capacity and really wanted something slightly less conventional).

Thought about a Speed Four - a fun idea but didn't want anything tending to a sports bike.

Came closest with a Dakar, in some ways it was just a bit too easy, I wanted more of a challenge and something tending to touring. I would have been happy with both. Also the BM dealer was a total wally and thinking that I could end up with a long term relationship in this direction was a downer. If Triumph currently made a slightly lighter, more off roader I would probably have bought that.

Finally I discounted any of the commonsense arguments against the Tiger, promoted all the arguments for it and followed my heart. As its worked out initially I am happy with the choice.

Also visually - looking at the bike tilted so that the engine is more prominent and the shine coloured plastic/metal bits less. It just looks good.

That's a truly great statement. Your honesty will be rewarded by many happy miles on the Tiger.

9pm Dec 23, I was spied by my neighbour riding bike up the drive in pyjamas as I just had to give it a 'little go' and wasn't insured for the road until midnight

Arguments against height/weight.

I had a shock fitted to lower it by 3cm

you only had to invert the rear eccentrics, if it was only to drop the height.
