OEM Luggage for Triumph 800 Roadie
I suspect somebody is going to complain about my question but I've searched not only this forum but also the entire Internet high and low and have yet to find either an exact answer or photo for my specific questions. That is not to say that none exist but I have not yet found them. And it wouldn't kill anyone to answer them again anyway .
My questions are simply this. 1) If you install the Triumph OEM Adventure side luggage on a 2012 Triumph 800 roadie, what is the total width of your bike from the outside of the luggage on the left side to the outside of the luggage on the right side? And, 2) Does anyone have a rear photo of the aforementioned luggage?
My impression is that the OEM luggage is pretty darn wide but yet the alternatives don't seem to be much better (and, yes, I've looked at just about every possible brand and size possible).
Thanks in advance,
Jack

Jack,
I can help you with the second part of your question. I have a photo of the Triumph OEM panniers taken from the rear from when I first got my bike. The first part, I can unfortunately not help with. I have since removed them in favor of another option, so I cannot measure them for your. I am sure somebody on here can do so. I believe Prop has them on his bike, and perhaps Chub as well, if I recall correctly.

Jack,
I went for the Givi trekker series with 33 ltr on each side. Way better mounting system than OEM. Will post pics and measurements tonight

Wow, they are really wide.
I can see why you went with something else.
There are much better options than sticking that monstrosity on the back.

OK - measured the trekker cases (33 ltr on both sides) and it is 38 inches wide! I guess you can call that a fat arse.

Topcat - I've been looking at the Givi Trekkers. How do you like them? Does the 33 ltr bag hold a full face helmet? Just panniers or did you get the top box too? Rain proof? Sorry for the thread drift. Thanks,

I've got a 46 litre Trekker top case coming. It'll fit a full face helmet, but I am sure that a 33 Liter won't. They're pretty slim. Might go in sideways, but I don't think so. I'll get my OEM bags mounted and get you the side to side tomorrow if no one beats me to it. I really like the looks of the Trekkers and wish that I had gone that route and just tucked a tool tube on the left side to fill the odd gap. I really don't like the odd shape of the OEM exhaust side bag as it's almost useless unless you pack it off the bike.

rear luggage measured at the widest point is 40" and those are some pretty heavy bags. I really don't like the mounting system, seems kind of cheap after years of having BMW System cases connect securely to the bike.

So far, the mounts are fine. The topcase 46Ltr, handles a full face just fine ( Symax III or Scorpion 1100.
What i like is, the cases, and the mounts, come off quickly, if you had to, or just want to.
I guess the aluminum cases are a bit lighter, but I was comparing these to the Triumph bags, and the Givi mounting won.
I like to ability to open the top "hatch" or the total side when I need to.
