Hi Every One

I am new to triumph and have just brought a 2000 885i tiger after owning a Honda Varadero 1000 last, the engine sounds fine on start up but when it reaches its temperature it rattles , I have checked it out with dealer who says its slightly noisy but not to worry till next service which would be at 12 .000 miles. Is this normal for a triple the bike has been well looked after and I have all the service history its only done 9000 miles to date

Many thanks M

Rattle like valve noise? My S3 has the same engine and it makes all sorts of noises but no prominent rattles.

I've got the same bike as you - 2000 885EFI, and I have an issue with a slight "roughness" between 2500 and 3000 rpm. Has been checked, but nothing found. Hasn't caused any issues in the last 10000miles, so I'm not too worried. Think the main suspect in my case is fuel mapping (although latest map in place).

Triumphs rattle and it really is as simple as that, unless you have a real valve issue I wouldnt worry too much especially if it has a good service history. These things especially the 885 are pretty bullet proof.

Enjoy her and ride it till she falls apart.

I agree. All pre-955i(2001on) Tigers and all other models using the older engine designs sound very agricultural. The 955i engine is a bit antiseptic in comparison. I don't think there's anything to worry about. Especially at 12000 miles. It's only just run in properly.

i get a bit of a vibration thing as well on mine,i wondered if that was normal as well, the engine sounds sweet when you rev it,but does have that noise (agricultural) you mentioned.

looks like its a standard thing,it feels like the engine is missing some rubber mountings,at low revs, and i will have to buy some thread lock, the bolts drop out on motorways due to high vibration, anyone else had that problem?
