I bought a new silver 06 Tiger today and take delivery next week.
Plan on day trips, weekend rides and longer tours. Don't plan on using it around town too much.
Some good dirt roads in the region so bike should be seeing some off-blacktop duty. For serious trail riding I'll stick to my Yamaha 350XT.
Reading the Tiger forums the one thing just about everyone seems to agree upon is the necessity of crash bars. I am looking for some feedback - which one's provide best protection, which provide best value? Also want to maintain the good looks of this beauty!
If you're in the Portland OR area and want to hook up for rides please contact me.

The Touratech ones get my vote. Pt # 01-051-0520-0
Protect the engine cases AND the tank. I've (unfortunately) proved it.

I have a set of ma's engine bars and fortunately have not tested them yet but they have cutouts for driving lights and highway bars. no particular reason i picked these over the others.

I have the Thunderbike crash bars. They offer good protection and the company was a breeze to deal with. You can also add highway pegs and driving light mounts . Installation was pretty easy, took me about an hour and a half. But for my money none of the crash bars are particularly aesthetic. But who cares!

Lonewolf - what are "ma's" engine bars? I have seen the Touratech, Lilley and Thunderbike, but unfamiliar with "ma's".

I have the Thunderbike bars and have yet to really test them. I like them because I can hang things on them along with the driving lights and some fold up highway pegs- Thunderbike offers some but I assembled my own for about $12. Happy Trails out of Boise also makes bars. Ma's is in West Fargo, ND. Whatever choice, somes better than nones. :wow:

Hi JR !

They are on the Touratech site, at £157. Follow the Triumph search link, find them under protection ! :-D

Ma's Engine Guards

Photo - notice the scratches on the fairing. Pushed her over in the parking lot - long story - and that was the only damage with Ma's guards installed.
