I'm sure most of you will be aware of the BMW HP2, but I got to thinking the other day, what with a new Tiger expected sometime (no one knows when, but it will come! Eventually???). Seeing as it is likely to be road biased (boo hiss) bouncy tourer I was thinking what a jolly good idea a Tiger variant in the HP2 mould would be - gorgeous 955 or 1050 engine wrapped in a robust steel frame, decent size tank and good quality suspension, stripped down for the dirt. Assuming it didn't cost as much as an HP2 I think I could see myself buying it. Tiger Trail anyone?

I wouldn't be surprised if Triumph came up with a smaller version of the Tiger one day... 650CC for example to run alongside the bigger machine.

You got Honda's Transalp (smaller version of Varadero), Suzuki's V-Strom (650CC version of erm... V-Strom), BMW 650GS (smaller version of 1200GS), Ducati have recently brought out a 620cc Multistrada...

Bike magazines have been saying for a year or 2 now how people in the UK are starting to get turned onto Adventure Tourers / big trailies... plus Kawasaki have just put the KLE500 back into the UK after being deleted for a good few years. A stop gap (just like the KLV - a rebadged V-Strom)... bet they bring out a 650cc-ish road based trailie soon (KLR is a different class I think)...

I reckon a twin cylinger 650cc Tiger would be a great idea!

Can't see the money being there for them to develop a whole new engine but a suitably reworked 675 would do the job and be pleasantly different.
