Just back from two weeks and 2800 miles around the twisties of the Central Massif and the Pyrenees - fantastic trip, fantastic scenery, fantastic weather and brilliant roads, highlight was Col de Aspin which will be remembered for a long time. Cheers for lots of good advice on where to go earlier this summer, I'll try to post up full trip report and some pictures in the next couple of weeks - will probably struggle to beat Chris' presentation, but hey....
Bike ran like a dream, only major issue was a flat rear tyre which basically couldn't have happened at a better time as far as punctures are concerned - rolling through passport control going onto the ferry in Zeebrugge. Breakdown man in a van met us next morning in Hull and got us on our way.

Had a couple of minor issues - rebound damping of 3 simply doesn't do the trick on bouncy twisties with pillion and luggage, set it to 2 turns instead which made a huge difference.

Other thing we had problems with was loss of coolant going up and down the Cols in the Pyrenees. Had (as discussed before) let coolant level self adjust to just above minimum line earlier this summer, but going up and down the Cols I kept losing more and more through overflow hose at rear suspension, even though temperature gauge stayed at it's usual 1/3 up the white. Stopping for photoes etc. had coolant suddenly completely filling the reservoir, before dropping to well below minimum again. At one of the peaks I could even see the coolant in the reservoir boil, although gauge still showing OK temperature. Ended up having to top it up each day, just to find see it overflow and spit it all out again at stops. Once we were off the mountains everything was fine, didn't lose a drop after we left the mountains.

Anyone else had these problems or a good explanation for them - altitude springs to mind, as does steep inclines for longer periods of time, but not sure if any of these make sense?

That happened to me on my 04. Turns out the hoses were installed improperly. Brought it to dealer and had that fixed along with the front brakes.

Hi TT

Could also be a faulty radiator cap which governs the pressure in the system, if the pressure is too low the coolant will overheat at a lower temperature. I had this on my BM, the cap was releasing pressure at 1 bar when it should have been 1.5 bar, new cap sorted the problem.

Ditto on the CAP issue... Had the same problem with mine in the Mountains here in Colorado... New Cap fixed it...
