Had a little run out the other day and after about 150 miles the fuel light came on & the gauge showed empty. Funny, I thought - had filled up at the start of the ride and hadn't been doing anything silly. Stopped at a petrol station and could only get about 15 litres in. And the fuel light was still on and the gauge still showing empty. No problem I thought - still under warranty, take it in when I have a moment. But *****, got on it yesterday and the light and gauge both working OK.

Now I don't like things that fix themselves because they're probably going to unfix themselves again just when it's most inconvenient. Any ideas from the collective wisdom?

What a terribly sensitive filter we have here. b.l.o.w me is a quaint old english expression and has nothing to do with practices indulged in by fading matinee idols.

My 05 did the same thing, once. I've had no trouble with it since.

I managed to run out of petrol last week, filled up again, but both the light and gauge are registering empty. Not being technically minded I was hoping it would "fix" itself, but no joy after 50+ miles on a full tank. :???:

my '03 fuel guage works sometimes, other times it doesn't. I use the trip meter to guage how much range I have - usually ~250 miles per tank.

The most accurate gauge of the lot.

I suppose it is, but how old is the wheel.

Try this, tape over the fuel guage and the fuel light, go to a filling station and fill it to the neck. Then get on your bike and ride it till you run out of gas, that my friend is your tank range, irrespective of what any other gizmo you have on the bike says.
Then remember what the trip meter says for future refference.

My fuel gauge also show empty and led lights up shortly after a refill. I didn't think it was worth messing with while under warranty.

I refill as soon after 200 miles as I can. They could take the guage and light off to save amps so far as I'm concerned.

I'd be happy to do this with a reserve switch on the tank....
