A version of the 2006 Yamaha FJR1300 (known as the 1300AE) will feature an electric-shift, 5-speed transmission that eliminates the clutch lever entirely. Shifts occur either through the traditional foot-operated gearshift lever or the left bar-mounted paddles. In either event, no manual clutch operation is involved . . . simply shift and go.

Sounds brill',,,, but wouldn't that cause excessive wear and tear on the transmission, especially if you're not very good at gear changes?.
And would it work with a loud pipe?.
It's also rumoured that they will be fitting air bags and seat belts to that version, but like I say it's only a rumour, and we're still waiting for an executive decision on that one.

If only they could do that with the Tiger, then I'd be in easy street. :razz:
