Yep, 2,900 miles in two and a half weeks :-D

France, , Pyrenees, N Spain, down Costa de sol, back up to N Spain and home from Bilbao. Had 10 days in S Spain, nr Marbella in a spot called Mijas in the hills overlooking the coast. Wifes flew on down to join us, arriving about the same time as us.

Similar to ChrisN run, great fun and good laughs. Went with mate who went on his 91 Trophy. The grand master as I called it . Both bikes performed brilliantly.

zero oil usage. Never had to anything to the drive chain ( dual injector scotoiler) Every tank over 60mpg, running at around 75mph. (Got 65mpg on one trip through central Spain). Running with Blueflame and K&N filter.

numb bum arrived around 300 miles, with the touring seat. Jury still out on that particular add on. A few weeks back I posted about air loss from tyres. I was losing up to 4 lbs of pressure a week on average. Did not lose any pressure at all. I think it is telling me to ride it more :-D Tiger is 3 years old next year, normally time for me to change. However, I feel this is a keeper !! Got home to find the Triumph RAT beano had arrived with a nice write up re the '06' model. Oh dear oh dear A few months to ponder :???: In the mean time plotting now for a trip totally dedicated to the Pyrennes, Picos, and N Spain next year

I'm jealous now as I only managed to get 1100 miles done before the overheating problem stopped the bike.

I bought the Tiger as a stop gap bike following a 6 year break from bikes. My intent is/was to get something like a ZZR13 when it comes out next year or maybe a Blackbird when they update the model as that is more in keeping with what I've had in the past - 2xZZR11, CBR1000, 4xFJ12 - but I'm not so sure at the moment as the more I ride the Tiger the more I like it.

The only problem I have is a persistent coccyx issue from a bike accident years ago that is really aggravated by the Tiger's sit up and beg position. That results in me having to stop every 90 miles or so as it is extremely painful despite the gel seat. I had the same problem with a KLR650 that I had for a while and was why I got rid of it. That might be what pushes me to change the Tiger but apart from that I love it and so does SWMBO who is usually on the back.

She might also like the Sprint ST nearly as well, and it should be easier on your tailbone with a condition like that.

Have you tried a lower and more forward set of handlebars???? Lean further forward and take the pressure of the tailbone.

Just some useless trivia:
The Linean name of the Roadrunner is the Geococcyx californianus. Translates to "drags his ass around Californian dirt!

to kweller, (The only problem I have is a persistent coccyx issue from a bike accident years ago that is really aggravated by the Tiger's sit up and beg position.) just a thought, it may be possible to take a bit out of the seat at the spot thats giving you pain. worth a try !!

Dave,
Nice to read you had a good tour. How about some photos ?
You came back with similar thoughts to me regarding a return trip to the mountain areas.

If I don't get to the Alps next year I'm looking at sailing to Santander and playing at zig-zagging down the Pyrenees down to Barcelona and back.

Thanks all for the suggestions.

John: The Sprint would certainly be worth a look as the UK bike mags all rave about it. My only concern is that it is usually compared with something like the VFR rather than the more powerful sports tourers which makes me wonder about torque. Definitely worth a test ride though.

TimTiger: I tried pushing the current bars forward but to get them far enough forward it fouled the screen. I've also, as you suggested, considered buying other bars but having read here of the problems getting the bar end weights and heated grips reconnected and factoring in that I have the mechanical aptitude of an orang-utan I decided it probably wasn't a good idea to try it!

KK: I don't think it's any particular part of the seat, it's just that I'm sat upright.

Dave: Sorry I seem to have hijacked your thread.

Kevin

I can recommend the N623 which runs from Santander to Burgos. Off your route but worth it IMO. Lots of up and down, twisties and cafés. When we rode it all the cars were getting stuck behind lorries so once we were past the train - easy on a bike - we had empty roads until the next train.
