Can people post their average fuel consumption, by miles/tank 'till reserve light for the 955i.
I am now only getting 150 odd miles for a tank to the reserve light. Admitedly my riding is now more 'spirited' than when I first got the bike (abnout 3 months ago), but then i was getting 180+ to a tank...
Whats the average?
My bikes got about 3500 on it now and I was getting better consumption on my steamer

Hi Jim,
On a run (approx 80mph) I will get a minimum of 200 miles until the light comes on and then another 50. Around town is about 180 until the light. Tiggers done just under 12K now and consumption seems to be improving!

I tend to average 6l/100km (47mpg uk/39mpg US)
This means normally300kms (186miles)till the light then 6 litres left so probably another 100kms in the tank
This has been the case pretty much since break in was over and never varies much irrespective of how spirited or loaded I ride

I get about 43 mpg on my 05 with 3000 miles.
I was wondering also.....Does the reserve light come on when the fuel gauge shows empty? A couple tanks ago, I had the needle into the red pretty good and the reserve light never came on. I have seen the light before so I know it works.
Thanks

Hiya Guys.
The exeptional fuel economy of my Tiger is like a music hall joke with my biking mates.
Basically I go out with a full tank of juice and ride about 200 miles two up, all kinds of roads, low gears, high gears, hard acceleration, mountain passes, cruising etc, and I still achieve over 200 miles without the light coming on, which pleases me a lot!..
My mates usually have to stop for fuel twice while we are out!
But I did go up one tooth on the front sprocket so I suppose that helps a bit.

Congo, are you really asking about fuel economy, per the subject line, or the warning light? They're often two very different things, because the level at which the light comes on can vary.
So far as fuel mileage, it's high 40s for mine.

The fuel warning light is supposed to come on when there is 6l left in the tank. Mine does this and always has. The fuel light normally only comes on when I am down through the red mark on the guage but I tend to have covered 200kms at the half full mark so it seems it is accurate at full half full then the light.

Agree with DJR:
Both my Tigers worked out at approx 6L/100km. Fuel light would light at a very regular 300 km solo, 270 with passenger.
Only time I saw really high consumption was when going down the Autobahn, 2 up and at an indecent rate of knots - but then she was thirsty!!

I get about 39 US gal/mile (by the way when posting MPG figures it is good to specify whether you are using Imperial or US measures) around town and 42 on the road. Around town the light comes on at ~180 miles and ~200 miles on the road. The most I have ever put on a tank is 250 miles then I got really nervous. I have found the light to be very reliable.
