As above. What and where would I get a suitable plug that fits this socket? I've just realised that it's not a 'cigar' lighter sized one.

BMW do them, at a price. I got mine from a caravan centre, a couple of quid I think, if that.

Triumph dealers also do them and if memory serves, the prices are competitive.

Thank you. Makes me wonder why Triumph didn't just fit a standard 'cigar' lighter socket.

touratech do plenty of stuff to convert/fit a cigar socket, also the bmw socket is regarded as much better quality than the triumph one so many dealers ( not just bmw ) stock them for only a couple of quid

Probably the best source is:

they have scads of different plugs, connectors, etc. Also, do you folks on that side of the pond have John Deere dealers (forgive my ignorance)? John Deere uses them on some of their larger tractors. The advantage to this type of a plug is that it doesn't vibrate out, like cigar plugs have the tendency to do.
Cheers,
Dave

The 'BMW' kind do a much better job at keeping the connection in the more vibratory environment on a motorcycle. Also, they are easier to fit the little weather doors to the female plug which is on the bike so that no water, etc. gets into an electrical connection.

Cheers,
Fred
