Wiko,

Don't worry about that, that is fairly normal. Not sure what causes it?, perhaps it is just a centrifugal effect from the clutch plates or something?.

Did you try and stop the wheel with your hand or boot?, if so, was there much resistance or did it stop straight away?

I doubt that changing the oil will make any difference......

Robbie / Winger, you are both engineers, do you know what this phenomena is ??

It's oil drag in yer gearbox that does this. Bit like a torque converter in an auto-box.
Nothing to worry about. Does it less when the oil is hot. Makes oiling yer chain easier.

Mine does this as well, when it is cold - but the wheel stops spinning once she gets warm.

As blacktiger said, it's just oil drag, and it certainly does make oiling the chain easier....

I think every bike I've had has done this. It's not a problem or a sign of a future defect.

Like everyone says, it makes greasing the chain easier, but I'm an idle bleeder so I've got a Scott-oiler. :hammer:
