I have just purchased (and built) a Triumph Topbox for the Tiger and have a question for all of you good people out there. Having read the three instruction/assembly guides that came with the topbox & layed out all of the pieces & checked them against the parts lists for the build I discovered that I have two "extra" components. There were 4 rubber wedges in the kit, two which were listed & had instructions on how to fit them & two larger wedges which were not listed or illustrated. These larger wedges have an oval shaped plug on the back which is quite big in relation to the wedge & is obviously meant to fit into an oval shaped slot somewhere. Anyone got any suggestions as to what they are for or where they go?
As an aside I must say I am a bid peeved at Triumph for the way the box was delivered, their topbox is expensive to start with & they have the cheek to supply it in bits for me to put together, great way to encourage customers. The box also took a bit of effort in putting it together. I like to think that I am reasonably competent when it comes to mechanical problems, I would have hated to see how someone new to bikes & spannering would have coped. I had to enlarge a couple of the drillings to take the bolts for the rubber buffers on the underside of the box and add additional holes to allow me to fit the nuts to the bolts for the hinges, not good. Triumph take note if anyone from the organisation reads this.
So be warned, if you buy a topbox separately from the bike, you have an interesting build to do...
