Does anyone else have a smelly Tiger when the weather is hot?

Just recently, when I open the garage door, the smell of petrol is almost overwhelming. I can't particularly see any spots on the floor etc etc although the end of the breather tube looked a little moist but not excessively.

I did have a BMW K1100 that vented fuel when it it got very hot, but that was very hot !

Anyone else noticed this?

It is a 2006 955i.

No.
Is it running rich? Can you trace the source with your nose? eg sniff the exhaust (I normally do not recommend sniffing a Tigers rear orifice)
I would check the following:

1. The fuel connectors. Take the left sidecover and black cover off to see if this is leaking or weaping. May be as simple as a pinched O ring seal. Have you had the metal connectors fitted.

2. The tank vents. While you have the left covers off have a look at the two allow bard fittings that have black runbber tubing leading under the motor. They tend to corrode and block. If so, run a drill bit through them to open them up. This problem normaly causes water to bulid up in the fuel filler and drop into the tank when you open the cap, but I guess it could cause pressure build up.

As well as checking the o-rings on the quick release connectors, check the hoses going onto the 90 degree bends as well, this is where I had problems with petrol pooring out a couple of months back. As long as it's not done before and you've got a bit of slack in the hoses it's a quick job to just cut them back 2-3cm, re-attach them, and hopefully that will provide a better seal.

Check the vents and roll over valve.
If the valve gets stuck the tank can pressurise and force fuel out of filler and pipe work.
Do as everybody has said and check the QR fittings and pipe connections.
Also check rhs above gearbox where the fuel gauge sender unit is, some have had dodgy seals on the wiring and the fuel runs down the wire on top of the gearbox and evaporates, no drips to see

If you cannot find the leak check that can of petrol for the lawn mower is not leaking and if you need a Hamlet moment take it outside.

just noticed it is a 2006, Take it to the dealer

I'll go with Torquey T on this one. On my 885 petrol was pouring out from the metal clip on one of the fuel tank pipes. I cut it shorter and replaced the OE clip with a 'Jubilee' clip. Problem solved.

Incidentally this occurred just after the fuel tank fittings had been replaced under the Triumph recall.

Take it back to the dealer. Or wait until the first service and tell them then. Definately a warranty issue.

Dont wait till the next service, take it to the dealers. This is a warranty issue but also a safety one.
