Tiger 885 frame cracked

Whilst doing maintenance on my 93 tiger noticed the frame had cracked / split around the main frame tube, has any others had this.

Now in the process of stripping down and then replating with some hefty braces

All I was gonna do was change the cam chain.

Bikes never been off roading, perish the thought lol,

Obvious stress related, bit late to ring triumph about a warrenty claim

Will be cleaning up today a fabricating stronger gussets after welding and plating.

I had heard of it before about 5 years ago and checked then,

I;ll have a look at other site

Wow

I was pretty shocked when I saw those cracks !!

Just wondering if it's been in a front end crash with a previous owner, or whether they are definitely stress related ??

Not being a professor of this frame.. can you pull back the camera some and show which part of the frame this is? Up by the fork or down where the engine attaches at the bottom orrr???

After reviewing some pics I have on file of this frame.... Im guessing this is up top by the fork yoke.

Would still love some pulled back pics to see where this crack is in relation to the upper engine mounts.

If the mounts were little loose over the years this might have increased vibration cracking?

I will have my bike apart and installing a heavier diesel engine so more exacting detail of this crack area might hint to me where I should consider adding strength to the frame.
