I mounted the Triumph replacement silencer with the correct flash and the O2 sensor bypass. I don't remember any surging or off-idle flat spot with the stock set-up, but I have them now. THe O2 bypass didn't change anything.

Though I sort of like the noise with the new silencer, I don't like the surging or flat spot. Does Triumph have a fix for these or should I try to go back to the stock arrangement. It ran so beautifully with the stock set-up, but I don't know if it will again.

DO y'all remember having surging or an off-idle flat spot with the stock set-up?

have you taken it to get your ecu re-mapped?
being on the other side of the pond, i don't know what ' correct flash' refers to.

The 'correct flash' means I got the ecu remapped.

Triumph has just two remaps routinely available. Stock and Triumph silencer. They may have others if the dealer contacts them specifically. I guess that's what I'm wondering about.

The techs at my dealer contend that the remapping doesn't always take perfectly. If you're having a problem now, and didn't before, try getting a new hit on the mapping. I had to do that once on an S3, and the second time worked a charm. I have the off road silencer on my Tiger, and have no stumbling or flat spots at all. Try reloading the tune.

yep take it back and get them to do the remap again. I would aslo remove the 02 bypass to get this done so the map takes with the bike as it was built. You can re attach later if you need to.

As has been said, occassionaly the new mapping will not load 100%

If you are feeling a big flat spot, you most likely have the wrong tune (the new one didn't take). Tell them you need 10121. The difference between 10120 (standard pipe tune) and 10121 ( Triumph race can tune) is huge. The race can map does not have any flat spot in it and will smooth out the power delivery.

I have been running Tuneboy four about four months. Tuneboy had mistakenly put the standard bike tune up as both standard and aftermarket on their website. I was experincing the same issues you are now. Once if figured out what was was wrong and reported it to them, they put the correct tune up on the site, which I then downloaded and applied to my bike.

It runs like a champ now.

I do notice that it sounds a bit rough when running with no load on the engine (coasting in gear), but when I wear ear plugs it sounds perfect. I figure it's a bit of resonace in the can causing the sound.

Good luck,

Ed
