Does your pillion burn thier leg on the exhaust

I've had the Tiger for about two months now, and I'm completely in love with this bike.

However, SWMBO has a major complaint, when siting on the back she yelps every time her leg touches the exhaust. In fact it has got that bad she refuses to go on the back until I get it sorted.

Graeme did say it has been mentioned by other Tiger owners. Any comments?

Talking

not had any probs on the 1050, but she does prefer it with the panniers fitted. But then there's the climb on and off which is always good for a laugh.
Many many years ago there was a burnt ankle (stilleto's and pedal pushers) on my T140V, but that was was my fault as "I did not tell her the shiney bits got hot!" So she's been careful since and only rides with boots and leathers.
And the underseat system on the 1050ST got a bit warm in summer, nice in winter though.
you dont say where the offending section is are all the heat shields in place?

There are various wraps available but in that area may be difficult to fit, and a number of aftermarket universal plates again as the size changes dramaticaly at that point may be aukward to fit.
As temp fix for passenger comfort try a section of fire blanket, not pretty but easily fitted or removed when not needed.
Or depending on your abilities try a bit of panel beating to make an additional shroud to fit to the existing shield and peg hanger.
Maybe someone who's already fixed it will reply!
just seen the post from Kuzzin Kenny perforated sheet is easy shape but can rip if worked to hard in one area.
Car style exhaust U bolts work well as they provide the spacing from the pipe and are available in sizes to suit and stainless
give it a go and post your results might be the start of something!

Clever Idea using U bolts to fit a shield.

not mine borrowed from a 4x4 racer, but worked well in that application, and has been used by a number of people since
for similar Apps.

Not the best of pics, but I cut out and hand beat a piece of ally checkerplate, drilled on hole in it and bolted it on behind the foot peg mount. It's been there for 2.5 years and never moved, neither has Gabi burned her leg again.

My wife's only ridden with me a few times so far, but she has never had a complaint.
