The choice for 17" wheels was made a lot easier a couple of years ago with advent of the dual compound tyre,Michelin came first with their Road O2,followed by Dunlops Road Smart just as good wear maybe slightly better but it's marginal, but tips into a corner 50% quicker, and them Pirelli have their Angel,i hear good reports but have never tried them, one things for sure single compound tyres are a thing of the past.

The Michelin Pilot Sports on my 1050 Tiger may not be the best tyres in the world, but I would hardly call them crappy. I certainly won't be changing them until they are worn out. However, if you ride with a load of R1's and Gixxers, and like to keep up, then your opinion regarding the stock tyres may differ from mine!

You see were it can get complicated,i see you say Pilot Sports, which ones??,single compound there is one, or dual, the dual compound Pilots are called 2CT's but in actual fact if you check the Road 02 also has 2CT on e'm,but they call e'm 02's,complicated!!
If you do have Pilot Sport 2CT's they are a serious tyre,or be it a sports tyre.

My local dealer gave me an '07 as a weekend loaner while had had my Bonnie in for its 12K service.
He had just reshod it w/ Pilot Sport 2's.
Wow - that bike's handling was amazing to me.
His comment was that they thought it was the "best overall" tire for the 1050 Tiger.
I want a Tiger...

Well they would be for the dealer as I'd expect you'd go through them pretty quick if you do a few miles :-)
My dealer put the "older' Pilot Powers on on Fri. They had a special on them, so even though they'll wear much quicker than the Road 2's at 20% off the per km rate will be about the same.
And after the slightly rounded (and then squared off from commuting) tyre I had on, it will be a pleasure to get some faster steering happening  Have a good one.
