Multistrada 1200

Here is a link to the site with info regarding the new Multistrada. Pretty impressive spec sheet. Looks will be polarizing. Cost will be an issue too. Still, I think it is a rather interesting bike that I'd like to test ride...

It is definitely an improvement over the current model. The Ducs tend to not photograph as well as they look in person. Price, I agree, will be steep for the top end model.

I'll also be out there on a test ride as soon as one comes available.

It will be an interesting conundrum!!,150hp traillie, and i to look forward to riding one,i'd say apart from price and getting over the Ducati thing, the size of the fuel tank will have some sway,i've ridden my fair share of 1098's and boy they can guzzle some fuel when you get e'm going.

£11000 in the UK i see.

What is it with the beak???

That beak is really what I dislike about the looks. I bet someone makes a replacement part that will cost several hundred dollars but it may just be what is needed to make it look really good.

Hopefully Triumph will do the right thing and turn the Tiger back into what it should be - a dual sports bike.

Then we won't have to even consider other bikes

Like it or not, the Multistrada is not boring. My first thought was somebody's funkified a GS1200. Not that anyone would mistake a BMW for a Duc.

More like an F800GS. The profiles are very VERY similar.

There's a quick write up in Motorcyle News in the UK today. It's said to have a new development of the 1198 Testastretta engine with revised valve overlap for more fuel efficiency and less pollution.
Has programable electronic Ohlins suspension. Also has 4 settings in the ECU for the engine output and suspension settings. e.g at the top end :- 150bhp with firm suspension for fast road riding. At the soft end :- 100bhp and soft suspension for off road.
There will be several different model options like a road racer with the Ohlins suspension down to a touring model with Marzzochi forks and luggage.

That is ALOT of electronics that can go wrong. I wouldnt buy that bike for a solid 3 years until they can work the bugs out. You know there will be a ton when you ride something so complicated.

At last the penny has dropped, that despite wanting an alrounder/Traillie call it what you like it doesn't have to have a slow motor,be interesting to see how long it takes Triumph to put a Daytona/Sprint motor in the Tiger.
